Why How You Think You Slept Matters for Your Wellbeing
New research shows that how well you think you slept (sleep satisfaction) may be just as important as how well you actually slept.
It turns out, your sleep satisfaction can influence:
Your mood the next day
Your sense of wellbeing
Your overall life satisfaction
Your physical and mental health
A study published in Emotion found even if your sleep tracking device tells you that you slept poorly, but your perception is that you slept well – it may help better your mood the following day. The study also found that how young people evaluated their own sleep was consistently linked to how they felt about their wellbeing and life satisfaction.
Worth keeping in mind when reflecting on your sleep.
